Zhuhai-based software developer Kingsoft ranks 14th on China's 2018 Top 100 Internet Companies list released by the Internet Society of China and the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology.
The organizations began the evaluation in 2013 using criteria such as size, social impact, growth potential, and social responsibility.
Established in 1988, Kingsoft is one of the earliest internet companies in China and historically has focused on development of Microsoft Windows systems. It also has worked on interactive entertainment and internet security, and developed WPS Office, one of the most popular software products in the country. A cloud computing service will become another selling point, according to a manager.

The company has had revenue of over 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) for five consecutive years, the highest in Zhuhai; the sum includes that of Cheetah Mobile, an independent mobile internet subsidiary.
Kingsoft is still scaling development. For instance, Kingsoft Software Park Phase I opened at the Zhuhai National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) last year.
