Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport logged 81,137 flights with 11.22 million passenger arrivals and departures in 2018, up 16.4 and 21.7 percent year-on-year respectively. This sets new records in both categories.
This compares to a record annual throughput of 800,000 passengers only a dozen years ago in 2006. That figure was up 25 percent from 2005 before which the airport, which opened in 1995, had been in the formation years. In 2007, it was accurately predicted that steady growth at the airport would "bring new momentum to Zhuhai's economy."
Cargo and mail throughput also hit a record high in 2018, increasing by 24.1 percent to 463.93 million tons.
During the past year, the airport opened new flights to Hengyang, Changde, Yongzhou and Huaihua of Hunan Province, Luoyang of Henan Province, Baotou of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Qianjiang and Wanzhou of Chongqing Municipality.

By the end of 2018, more than 1,460 flights connected Zhuhai with 58 destinations across the county every week. There were up to 14 daily flights to Shanghai, 10 to Beijing, and five to Tianjin and Chongqing, Harbin of Heilongjiang, Hefei of Anhui, Jinan of Shandong, Nanjing of Jiangsu, Nanchang of Jiangxi, Chengdu of Sichuan, Xi'an of Shaanxi, and Zhengzhou of Henan.
Currently, there are 27 airlines operating at Zhuhai Airport (ZUH). On Nov 20, it became the 35th airport in China with passenger throughput of more than 10 million and one of only two prefecture-level airports with that breakthrough.
Since 2006, the airport has been operated by Hong Kong-Zhuhai Airport Management Co.
