Greater Bay races further promote cycling in Zhuhai
More than 400 cyclists of different ages rode through Aviation New Town during the 2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Rim City Cycling Challenge (Zhuhai Jinwan Stop) on Nov 3.
Setting off from Jinshan Park, contestants rode by Zhuhai (Jinwan) Airport, and Damenkou and Central River wetland parks, among other local attractions. Each lap was 6.5 km (4 miles) and featured 14 bends with their own challenges.

Zou Bo from team Novatec Merida was crowned at the 65-km (40-mile) men's elite. Defending champion Ma Zequan from Boodun and Jian Zhihang from Quick (Shenzhen) lifted the trophies of the 39-km (24-mile) men's youth and 32.5-km (20-mile) men's adult respectively. First place in the 26-km (16-mile) women's event was taken by Zhang Wanqi.
The challenge was not only for adults. Children competed as well in a Balance Bike Race. To enhance participation, more than 600 cycling enthusiasts were invited to tour Jinshan Park, Jinwan's Lovers Avenue, Damenkou Wetland Park and Sanban Village in a 66-km (41-mile) cycling event prior to match day.
First run in 2018, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Rim City Cycling Challenge has already become one of the most influential cycling events in Guangdong Province. This year's Zhuhai stop, integrated with the 8th Aviation New Town Cup Road Cycling Race, was better organized, more international, and equipped with better prize money. The event will next move to Zhaoqing and Huizhou.
