Greater Bay outlook shines in world-viewed TV Gala
Stunning fireworks and performances on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) White Dolphin Island lit up the Lingding Sea to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year on Jan 24 and showcased to the world the human spirit, cultural characteristics, developments, and prospects of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
It was themed "Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao Celebrate the Spring Festival Together, the Greater Bay Area Leaps Forward to a Bright Future." The sub-venue of the 2020 CCTV Spring Festival Gala featured song and dance performances against the backdrop of the vessel-like artificial island of the mega project and accompanied by dazzling unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formations, hi-tech laser projections, and lion dances.
Hosts and hostesses from the three areas greet the audiences around the world
Stella Chen of Radio the Greater Bay of China Media Group, actress Myolie Wu from Hong Kong, Daniel Liu at Macao TV, and Xu Lunan of Zhuhai Media Group greeted global Chinese people at the start of the gala and wished for joy and luck for audiences around the world.
The classic Cantonese song The Great Wall will Never Fall by actor Jackie Chan showed the courage and determined spirit of people in the Great Bay Area to forge ahead.
The chorus Shared Homeland presented a warm and harmonious scene of "holding hands and getting together joyously" by artists Chen Kun, Carina Lau from Hong Kong, and Julio from Macao.

Accompanied by new year bells, the song Tomorrow Will Be Better sung by Taiwan artist Ouyang Nana and a thousand performers pushed the festive atmosphere to the heights.
Moreover, performing artists of the parallel session in Zhuhai interacted with the main stage in Beijing and that of Zhengzhou of Henan Province, the other sub-venue, by joining the song and dance My Motherland.
During four decades of Reform & Opening-Up, Zhuhai has made noteworthy achievements in high-quality development, livability, and ecological civilization, which is why it was chosen as a sub-venue for two consecutive years, according to Lin Yuan, head of the Second Director Office of CCTV's Large Program Center.
Since its debut in 1983, the four-hour CCTV evening gala has been the country's annual way to celebrate on Chinese New Year's Eve and is considered the world's most-watched television program.
