Zhuhai incubation parks listed among national leaders
Tsinghua Science Park, Southern Software Park, and the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Science & Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao are among 100 Characterized Carriers recently recognized for their roles in industrial incubation.
The list was released Oct 12 by think tank Capital Institute of Science & Technology Development Strategy and recommendation engine Chuang Tou Tiao. Since early September, national association representatives and experts have assessed carriers nationwide in terms of job creation and industrial and digital incubation. Support was given by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science & Technology.

Located in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan), Tsinghua Science Park was founded in 2000 by Tsinghua University and the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government. It has an all-round incubation system integrating maker spaces, incubators, accelerators, and industrial parks in strategic emerging industries such as electronic information, life and health, aerospace (military-civil integration), and new materials.
Also in Tangjiawan, the 260,000-sq-m (64-acre) Southern Software Park is home to 240 institutions, 69 hi-tech enterprises, and 11 listed enterprises. It has incubated 33 companies including Allwinner Technology, Orbita Aerospace Science & Technology, and Yunzhou-Tech, while 59 enterprises are still under incubation.
The park's supportive technical service is provided by 14 associations and chambers of commerce, 47 cooperative institutions, and 40 mentors. A tiered incubation mode backed by three maker spaces, one incubator, and one accelerator are also planned.
The TCM park in Hengqin New Area was the first project under the Framework Agreement on Cooperation Between Guangdong & Macao and has provided a significant boost to Macao's moderate economic diversification since it began operating in April 2013.
It promotes TCM inheritance and innovation with laboratory-scale/pilot-scale test production under domestic and EU good manufacturing practices (GMP), international testing, scientific research, and centers for TCM preparation and provincial engineering technology.
