Rural tourism was quite attractive for many of the 669,200 travelers who visited Zhuhai during the April 3-5 Qingming (Tomb-Sweeping) Festival and generated 469 million yuan ($71.62 million) in tourism revenue.

A great number took in the wealth of local culture by touring Doumen Old Street, Lvyi Ancestral Hall, Yu Xia Yuan, and Jiexia Manor, which is on the first Boutique Routes for Guangdong Countryside Tourism released in 2019.

For a more leisurely pace, Pastoral Tribe, Shiyiren Pitaya Farm, and Cuckoo Agricultural Ecological Park in Doumen offered a getaway with vegetable and fruit picking and barbecues. Meanwhile, Green Fingers Farm in Jinwan entertained families with plant dyeing and pottery-making.

Rural boutique B&Bs such as Zen Cloud Resort, Shashan Compound, and Tian Tian Dian Ji became a top choice for many of the 187,900 overnight visitors due to the picturesque scenery and tranquil surroundings.

With spring in the air, New Yuanming Palace in the Lanpu Community of Gongbei hosted a Cherry Blossom Art Festival that also featured a wisteria blossom corridor and oil-paper umbrellas.

Chimelong International Ocean Resort in Hengqin New Area received the most visitors during the three-day holiday. The Chimelong Marine Science Hotel that opened Jan 30 was especially generous in offering multiple discounted packages.

Moreover, the Ocean Spring Resort in Jinwan created a brand-new photo-taking spot – Eye of the Sky – which works in harmony with the natural scenery to enthrall visitors.

A mobile big data platform showed that the majority of the tourists were from other Guangdong cities such as Zhongshan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, and Dongguan. Most of out-of-province travelers came from Hunan, Shanghai, Beijing, Hubei, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

In total, 1.36 million vehicles were tallied in and out of Zhuhai during the holiday, an increase of 11.5 percent over normal traffic volume. No traffic jams or fatal traffic accidents occurred as there was a heavy presence of local traffic police.

In 2019, 933,600 people visited Zhuhai during the festival and spent 576 million yuan ($85.7 million).
