Hengqin ideally suited host of high-perform computer talks
Home to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's first advanced intelligent computing center, Hengqin has been chosen to host the largest, highest-level, and strongest technical conference in the field of high-performance computing in China from Oct 21 to 23.
The 17th China Computer Federation's National Annual Conference on High Performance Computing (HPC China 2021) is one of the three major academic conferences in the field of high-performance computing in the world. Zhuhai International Conference Center is the venue for scholars in related fields to release the most cutting-edge scientific research results, which will promote high-performance computing in China.
The Hengqin center, meanwhile, has computing power of up to 1.16 exa-operations per second (Eops) relying on Cambricon's neural network chip. It was established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guangdong, Zhuhai, and Hengqin governments in May 2019.

Attendees will discuss the latest HPC achievements in the context of intelligence-computing integration in Hengqin. For instance, a scientific system for COVID-19 pandemic forecasting – from world to provincial and municipal levels – went online last year with support from the Hengqin Advanced Intelligent Computing Center and a team led by China's top epidemiologist, Zhong Nanshan.
In addition to members of Chinese academies of sciences and engineering, more than 300 experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives will address academic research, technological innovation, and industrialization of the HPC sector at 40 forums and seminars.
The forums will focus on quantum computing, big data, SaaS (Software as a Service) applications, HPC, visual analysis, numerical simulation, heterogeneous computing, programming model and optimization, sparse matrix computing, and HPC open-source software stack. Quantum computing, carbon neutrality, east-to-west data computing, and the "metaverse" will also be discussed.
Furthermore, in-depth talks will be held on artificial intelligence, supercomputers, cloud native, storage-computing integration and "digital twin." The final of the 9th Parallel Application Challenge and 5th China Parallel Application Challenge on Domestic CPU will take place concurrently.
